Louisville boxing legend Jimmy Ellis, 74, died after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease, according to his brother Jerry Ellis.

Jimmy Ellis, a native of western Pennsylvania who has lived in Atlantic Beach for a year, won the 107th Florida Amateur on Sunday.

Ellis died at a Louisville hospital, brother Jerry Ellis said. Jimmy Ellis had Alzheimer's disease in recent years.
