Series production kicked off in April 2015, with the XE being underpinned by the Jaguar Land Rover D7a platform of the XF and F-Pace. The Range Rover Velar also uses this rather outdated platform.

Despite being a track-focused special, the XE SV Project 8 includes a Meridian sound system and all of the same infotainment goodies as the standard model.
