A dance troupe from Haiti held its debut show in Beijing on Wednesday, greeting people in the Chinese capital with exotic dancing steps from the Caribbean Sea and strong beats of Haitian music.

Afoutayi Haitian Dance performed at the Chateau Theatre on Saturday, July 8, 2023, in downtown Rochester.

“With Afoutayi and Haitian culture, what we like is to put the community together because it’s a form of language for us,” said Djenane Saint Juste, founder and artistic director of Afoutayi.
