Here's how the Eagles took down the Cowboys in a season-opening game that included an ejection, weather delay and five first-half touchdowns.
The Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys, 24-20, on Thursday night in the opening game of the NFL season, but it was a lot tougher than anticipated. And had CeeDee Lamb not dropped a couple of huge passes that were in his hands in the final minutes, they might not have won at all.
Zack Baun reached a top speed of 20.68 mph to make a TD-saving tackle on Miles Sanders (19.29 mph), Baun's fastest speed on a play from scrimmage of his career. The Eagles forced and recovered a fumble five plays later. #DALvsPHI | #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/njrc91YUKj
However, that momentum quickly vanished. After a three-yard run from Sanders, wide receiver George Pickens was flagged for unnecessary roughness on safety Reed Blankenship. Pickens essentially pulled off a clothesline maneuver, dragging Blankenship down by the head and helmet area.
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts only threw for 152 yards but his two scores on the ground propelled his team to a 24-20 win against the Cowboys.
Eagles cornerback Adoree Jackson, who struggled as the starting corner opposite Quinyon Mitchell, was checked for a head injury late in the first half. He wasn't on the field for the Cowboys' final possession of the first half. But he was in the medical tent late in the quarter. Jackson was cleared to return to start the second half.
