Donald Carson Oldham, 88, of Goldston, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Birmingham Diocese spokesperson Donald Carson said on Tuesday (Aug. 12) that the allegations against Sullivan were under investigation by an independent review board advising the local church.

President-elect Donald Trump, moving closer to filling his Cabinet, chose former campaign rival Ben Carson on Monday to be secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Donald Carson, spokesman for the Diocese of Birmingham, said Sullivan would be prohibited from public ministry during the investigation.
