Haskovek said McGuckin sells a ceiling-mounted lift for about $30 that has a locking rope system to prevent the bike from accidentally releasing.
It's a pulley-based system that lets you store your bike up against the ceiling. To use the Stowaway, your first attach two of its loops to the handlebar stem and seatpost of your bike.
Those with heavier bikes that are a pain to lift may do better to seek a little hydraulic and pneumatic assistance with the flat-bike-lift rack, or the pulley-based Stowaway system.
The device, which Geraghty told INSIDER will retail for around $150, is designed so that the user hoists their bike up to the ceiling before locking it in place horizontally.
