A passenger on a Carnival Magic ship is missing after he fell overboard off the coast of Jacksonville, Florida, while on his first-ever cruise with his wife, authorities and family said Tuesday.

The Michael Truman, 39, pleaded guilty to assaulting the passenger with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, according to the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.

The FBI is now investigating after a man fell from his Carnival Cruise stateroom balcony on early Monday morning off the coast of Florida.

The 35-year-old passenger fell from the Carnival Magic ship about 185 miles east of Jacksonville on Monday, the service said in a statement. The Coast Guard is searching from the air and water.

Carnival Magic will now be out of service for its drydock from April 18 through May 24, 2026, and multiple spring 2026 sailings that were scheduled on the ship are now cancelled as a result.
