A Florida woman who was bitten and killed by an alligator at Lake Kissimmee State Park on Tuesday was canoeing with her husband when the attack happened, according to the FWC.

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A woman canoeing with her husband on Tuesday afternoon at Lake Kissimmee State Park was attacked and killed by an alligator, according to officials.

Primitive camping is permitted on many of the lakes and ponds, and there are dozens more lakes and ponds outside of the officially designated canoe area.
