Surviving over 4,850 years, this California pine is the world's oldest known tree to be discovered so far, with active research being conducted nearby to find more seasoned trees.

The oldest tree species is the Great Basin bristlecone pine, with many trees dating back around 4,000 years. The oldest tree is named Methuselah and it dates back nearly 5,000 years.

Multiple pilots have clipped these pine trees, the El Dorado County grand jury said in a February report.
