Three Chinese citizens with ties to Texas are challenging the controversial new state law that restricts foreign nationals from countries such as China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran from buying, leasing, or investing in property across the state.

Texas has become the latest state to ban trans-identified men from entering women's spaces amid concerns about safety and privacy for women and girls.

The Texas Office of Attorney General filed its response on Sept. 18 to a First Amendment lawsuit brought by UT Austin and UT Dallas students against leaders at the University of Texas System, saying that the students' case should be dismissed by the U.

As dozens of new laws take effect across Texas this month, the ban on THC-infused vape products is already having a visible impact on small businesses across North Texas.

On Sept. 1, Senate Bill 2024 — which bans the sale and marketing of vape pens to minors and prohibits the sale of THC in these devices — officially went into effect.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a sweeping trans bathroom ban with fines up to $125,000 into law on Monday. Abbott shared a video of himself signing the bill in a September 22 X post, writing, “I sign a law banning men in women’s restrooms. It is a common sense public safety issue.”

A newly passed law in 2025 required food manufacturers to put warning labels on products with certain ingredients. It did not ban those products.

The law, largely in response to pro-Palestinian protests last year, bans "expressive activity" on campuses from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. The lawsuit says it is overly broad and will affect protected speech.

A videotaped encounter at Texas A&M posted by a Republican Texas lawmaker led to the dismissal of a professor who taught a children’s literature class. Two administrators in the College of Arts and Sciences were also removed from their positions.
