Robert Roberson III had known for months he was scheduled to die Thursday afternoon. A lethal dose of pentobarbital would enter his veins sometime after the hour of 6 p.m., based on what an East Texas judge ordered this summer.

Robert Roberson, who had been set to be the first person in the U.S. to be put to death for a murder conviction tied to a diagnosis of shaken baby syndrome, had his execution delayed after a dramatic few hours of legal wrangling among three different Texas courts.

Robert Roberson will testify before the Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence of the Texas House of Representatives.
