Tata Group and Somerville College, University of Oxford, announced a collaboration to construct the Ratan Tata Building. The initiative, set to start in 2025, aims to enhance Somerville's academic space and was made possible through a significant donation by Tata Group,

The building will house new seminar rooms and offices, existing alongside spaces for shared study and interdisciplinary collaboration, reception rooms and accommodation for visiting academics.

Set to begin construction in Spring 2025 at the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, the Ratan Tata building will feature seminar rooms, shared study areas, and accommodations for visiting scholars, promoting an inclusive and equitable environment.

The building is to be named as Ratan Tata Building and will be made in collaboration with Somerville College, University of Oxford.

The project is made possible by the decade-long friendship between Somerville College and the Chairman Emeritus of the Tata Group late Ratan Tata.
