Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said on Thursday that the Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued notices to cab aggregators Ola and Uber for alleged differential pricing for identical rides based on the user's mobile operating system -- Android or iOS.

The government has issued a notice to Ola and Uber after numerous posts on social media went viral, showing different prices on various smartphones. The government has sought details on factors influencing these prices.

The CCPA’s intervention aims to address grievances and ensure fair trade practices by these companies. Ola and Uber have been asked to clarify their pricing mechanisms and explain the factors influencing fare variations.

New Delhi: The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on Thursday issued notice to cab companies Ola and Uber over an alleged differential pricing system for the same route on Android and iOS operating systems. Union Minister Prahlad Joshi in an 'X' post said that the notice was issued to Ola and Uber to seek their responses over the issue.

Prahlad Joshi, while replying to a news report about Uber and Ola's differential pricing for iPhone and Android phones, had said there was "zero tolerance for consumer exploitation".
