The 49ers expect to have 10 selections in this year’s NFL draft, highlighted by the No. 11 overall pick. And the standout play of Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold appears to mean the 49ers will receive another compensatory pick at the end of the fourth round.

The 49ers snagged a third-round comp pick in the 2025 draft when DeMeco Ryans and Ran Carthon were both hired in the same offseason. Ryans went to the Houston Texans as their head coach. Carthon went to the Tennessee Titans as their general manager.

Latu was drafted by the 49ers with the 101st overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Alabama, but he was unable to find a consistent role on the team. George Kittle is obviously one of the best tight ends in football and Latu could never carve out a role on the active roster at the position. Now, he will get a chance to do so in Philadelphia.

The Eagles on Tuesday signed former 49ers third-round tight end Cameron Latu to a reserve/futures contract. Latu, 24, was pick No. 101 in the 2023 draft out of Alabama. Latu will likely have a chance to join the Eagles for spring workouts and training camp.
