A post from the Inrix traffic monitoring service said: "Long delays and three lanes closed due to accident on M6 Northbound from J30 M61 to J31 A59 Preston New Road (Samlesbury). Lanes one two and three (of four)."

A section of the M6 is still shut after a massive oil spill sparked travel chaos for motorists and brought traffic to a standstill. The lorry smashed into a central reservation at 1pm on Monday near Preston that resulted in a "significant diesel spillage". Emergency services, as well as Highway officials, raced to the scene.

Motorists travelling on the M6 this morning are experiencing delays following a lorry crash. Emergency services were sent to the southbound stretch of motorway between junctions 14 and 13 at around 4am today, Thursday, March 13. Long delays followed for motorists as crews continued to work at the scene.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a collision on the M6 - which has left the motorway shut. National Highways has confirmed 'a lorry has left the carriageway' on the southbound stretch through Staffordshire.

A man has been charged following the death of a lorry driver in a crash on the M6. Ghulam Haider, from Dudley, is accused of causing death by dangerous driving and using a vehicle without insurance near Stoke-on-Trent on 27 February.

All traffic was stopped on the M6 following a crash this morning (March 13). Travel services are reporting the collision happened around 7.30am on the northbound carriageway, between junction 18 for Middlewich and junction 19 for Knutsford, in Cheshire.

The M6 remains closed near Preston following a serious lorry crash and 'significant' diesel spillage. Motorists are facing 'severe' rush-hour delays of around 50 minutes this morning (March 11) as emergency barrier repairs continue.
