A sixth successive league defeat for Leicester City was a major blow to the club, said manager Ruud van Nistelrooy after a 2-0 home loss to Crystal Palace on Wednesday kept them floundering near the foot of the Premier League.

Leicester City have lost each of their last six Premier League games in succession, their longest run in the competition since September 2022

"There were a few choice words [from the manager] at half-time," midfielder Will Hughes told club media. "We weren't at the races and were lucky to get in at 0-0 at half-time.

Crystal Palace kept up their impressive away form in the Premier League as second half goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marc Guehi handed them a 2-0 win at struggling Leicester City on Wednesday. Palace extended their unbeaten run away from home in the league to six matches with victory at the King Power Stadium and moved up one place to 14th in the standings.

Leicester had produced a rare display of dominance in the first half but went into the break goalless despite having 11 shots, although Mateta had squandered a glorious chance to put the away side in front.
