Hurricane Imelda bears down on Bermuda

Forecasters are monitoring Hurricane Imelda, a Category 1 hurricane, as it moves to Bermuda, according to the National Hurricane Center. According to an 8 a.m. ET advisory on Wednesday, Oct.
Hurricane Imelda is now closing in on Bermuda, just one day after Hurricane Humberto brushed the islands on Tuesday. And as of 11 a.m., the National Hurricane Center has issued its final advisory on Humberto, which has weakened and is no longer classified as a hurricane.

As expected, Imelda strengthened into a hurricane Tuesday morning, Sept. 30. And it's not done yet. Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, according to the National Hurricane Center. The Category 1 hurricane is beginning a slow turn away from Florida, moving slowly to the northeast.
Hurricane Imelda continues to strengthen. Expect dangerous beach conditions in Florida and along the U.S. east coast. Some gusty winds and rain bands from Imelda are possible along coastal areas of east central Florida today.
