Gov. Stein announces state of emergency for North Carolina ahead of future Tropical Cyclone Imelda
( PINPOINT WEATHER) — On Saturday, Governor Stein declared a state of emergency in North Carolina ahead of future named storm Imelda.
Weather models shifted, now call for a weaker storm with less impact on the Charlotte area, a National Weather Service forecaster said.
With a hurricane formation on the horizon and the edge of the North Carolina coast in the tracking cone, Governor Josh Stein on Saturday afternoon declared a state of emergency. For now, Tropical Depression Nine has yet to form into Tropical Storm Imelda,
Tropical Storm Imelda is expected to bring high levels of rain and potential flooding across the state on Monday and Tuesday.
North Carolina Gov. Stein declared a State of Emergency as the state braces for heavy rain and potential flooding from Tropical Depression 9 or future storm Imelda.
While the storm is not expected to hit the state directly, it will sit off the coast and bring rain to much of the state on Monday and Tuesday, putting some areas under a level 2 flooding risk.
