A St. Louis County police officer had tried to stop a speeding car moments before the crash that killed a man in the Mehlville area, authorities said Wednesday. The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the victim as 21-year-old Lucas J. Menz of the St. Louis area.

Minneapolis police are looking for the driver of a car that rolled over on the city's northside early Friday morning, killing one person and injuring another.

A passenger on a train involved in a fatal crash has told how she was knocked out by the impact after hearing "emergency brakes slam on, then the screeching". Bethan Evans, 23, believes she was unconscious for "a few seconds or around a minute" after the westbound service she was on hit a stationary train on a single track in Powys.

Police, fire crews and the ambulance service were called to the scene of the crash near Llanbrynmair, Powys, just before 7.30pm on Monday. Locals reported a large emergency services presence including road ambulances and an air ambulance.
