Disney’s dispute with Google over YouTube TV carriage rights has been going on for almost a week, and now the drama is starting to affect local stations, leading broadcasters to air their thoughts, particularly Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley.
A perk of subscribing to YouTube TV, per Google’s marketing, is the ability to “record it all with unlimited DVR space.” A footnote on the YouTube TV homepage notes that unlimited DVR is subject to “device, regional, and Internet restrictions” but overlooks an additional restriction in the form of multi-conglomerate spats.
The ongoing carriage dispute between Disney and YouTube TV is set to continue through the weekend, with no agreement reached to restore Disney-owned channels, including ABC and ESPN, to the platform.
