The Mustangs showed Saturday they were miles ahead of a Stanford program that’s been rebuilding for half a decade. It took just 19 seconds for Kevin Jennings to find wide receiver Moochie Dixon for an 87-yard touchdown that gave SMU an early 7-0 lead. Even without the Mustangs’ best performance overall, that lead grew to 30.

Stanford has been outscored 120-28 in the past three games and now faces its third ranked opponent in four games.

Kevin Jennings threw for 322 yards and three touchdowns, including an 87-yarder to Moochie Dixon on the first offensive play of the game, and 21st-ranked SMU remained unbeaten in Atlantic Coast Conference play with a 40-10 shellacking of host Stanford on Saturday night.

SMU improved to 3-0 in ACC play and is one of just four teams that remains undefeated in conference play. The Mustangs will go head-to-head with undefeated Pitt in two weeks with the hopes of keeping their ACC championship and College Football Playoff hopes alive.
