Either way, Boxing Day isn’t an official holiday in the United States. Some do celebrate it on their own time and there are certainly some post-Christmas sales to take advantage of. But you likely won’t find any blowout Boxing Day events or traditions here.

To many, Dec. 26 is simply the day after Christmas or the second night of Hanukkah. But to others, it's Boxing Day.

More than 1,000 people dressed in an array of festive outfits took part in a town's Boxing Day run. Clevedon Athletic Club has been hosting the north Somerset four-mile (6.4km) race since 1977. Race director Andy Heyes called it a "massive tradition".
