According to MLB expert Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Cubs are still pursuing a trade for one-time All-Star pitcher Mackenzie Gore from the San Diego Padres. While the Cubs have already successfully negotiated a trade with the Washington Nationals, Heyman indicates that another deal for Gore is “ not close .”

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic was first to report that Finnegan was traded to the Detroit Tigers, giving the American League contenders a much-needed late-innings bullpen arm for their stretch run and playoff push.

The Cubs have already made a flurry of moves at the trade deadline, but they still may be interested in acquiring Shane Bieber.
