European automakers are banding together to try and get EU to cancel its ban on internal combustion engines by 2035.

PARIS (Reuters) - Europe must cancel its plan to ban new fossil fuel-emitting cars from 2035 to reduce reliance on China's battery supply chain and play to its technological strengths, BMW's chief executive said on Tuesday.

BMW CEO Oliver Zipse said the EU's ban on gasoline cars could "threaten the European automotive industry in its heart."

The list of voices speaking out against the European Union’s ban on the sale of new piston-powered cars, which is scheduled for 2035, is getting longer. BMW’s CEO recently asked regulators to cancel the ban.
