The seat-sharing talks among constituents of the ruling Mahayuti in Maharashtra have almost been finalised after an almost three-hour long meeting with Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah in New Delhi till the early hours on Saturday (October 19, 2024). “Talks are still going on for over 20 seats,” sources told The Hindu.

Of the 260 Assembly seats, the BJP is likely to contest on 142 seats, Shiv Sena 66 and NCP 52, sources said. Talks on the remaining 28 seats are on due to claims and counter-claims between the allies.

The leaders from Mahayuti - the ruling coalition in Maharashtra - met Union Home Minister Amit Shah last night to discuss the seat-sharing plan ahead of the state Assembly elections scheduled next month.
