No idea what a “401” backpack is, but large items were not permitted. There was a storage area for leaving these. You wouldn’t want to try and navigate the mobs of pushing people in the museums small passageways in any case. Hard enough to get around with just one’s own personal space intact.

No. Unless you have a lot of time, and can visit at a time and day when the huge groups of tour groups are there. Not sure about advance tickets, but the tickets allow you to choose …

No. Unless you have a lot of time, and can visit at a time and day when the huge groups of tour groups are there. Not sure about advance tickets, but the tickets allow you to choose a time and date. There are LOTS of fabulous things to see and do in Vienna. The Spanish Riding School is a very special and unique experience. The Prater park is great fun for all ages, and the Ferris is wheel is wonderful. But tickets in advance. The Prater also has a chocolate museum, another of my favorites, especially the classes. See Trip Advisor for info on it and tickets. Musical events, historical churches, and food are all abundant and worthy of visits. Good luck, bring good walking shoes, and have a terrific visit!!

We were not allowed to take pictures. You don't have to be on a tour; you can rent an audio tour if you like.

The museum has audio guide, so it doesn't have a set schedule for the visits. We arrived with the Vienna Pass card and didn't have to wait.
