Opened in 1978 right in the midst of the disco era, in the middle of nowhere in then-barren south Chico. Roller Disco became very popular during this time as well. Cal Skate continued to grow and prosper during the awesome 80's, as Chico built up around it. As more schools were built, more kids and their classes frequented the popular roller rink. In 1984, Cal Skate added the Northstates only batting cage, offering 7 stalls of baseball and softball pitching machines. In 2003, FunLand management decided to purchase neighboring land and add an 18-hole miniature golf course. It hired outside designer Harris Mini Golf to design a natural, realistic setting - free of windmills and dinosaurs. It succeeded in making a beautiful, highly vegetative, natural, water-filled, miniature golf course. Adding this final attraction gave the whole family an option at every visit, any time of the year - rain or shine, hot or cold. FunLand's always looking to improve and add-on, so keep watching for news!
